Successful River Cleanup, Thanks to OSFR And Current Problems

The Santa Fe River got a bit of help Sat. June 2  when a large group came out to remove junk left by uncaring and inconsiderate river users. Special thanks to Rhonda Long and Megan Black who got the boats floating.

This was a big operation with workers going from Rum Island downstream to the Hwy 47 bridge.  In spite of dark water, an estimated 300 pounds of trash was recovered.

Of interest also is  that Steve Scott, founding member of Adopt  A River participated, as well as Todd Taylor of Adopt a Creek.  Thanks to them as well as all the volunteers who came out. Wayne Kinard of Amigos Dive Center, as always, was there for the river.  Jim Wood of Santa Fe Canoe Outpost accepted all the trash, for which we are thankful.
