Columbia Spring

Columbia Spring is a 1st magnitude spring in Columbia County and visible looking downstream from the High Springs Boat Ramp off of SR 441. On private property, it is possible to experience this springs fast moving water at the mouth of the shallow run. The spring run is unnavigable, shallow and consists of jagged limestone and native grasses. The 30 ft wide spring run flows into the Santa Fe River and supports an isthmus of land at the mouth which is frequented by birds.


Columbia, Hornsby, and Treehouse springs are legally protected by the 2016 Florida Springs and Aquifer Protection Act, Florida Statute 373.802 though the FL-DEP has not succeeded in enforcing these protections.

Columbia Spring is considered part of the Hornsby Springshed which includes six springs : River Rise, Treehouse Spring, Col428981, Darby Spring, Hornsby Spring , and Columbia Springs.
