**PRESS RELEASE**
Our Santa Fe River, Inc announces board changes.
7/5/23
At a Special Annual Meeting on June 28, 2023, Our Santa Fe River (OSFR) voted in some new leadership. Joanne Tremblay was voted in as president, Kristin Rubin as vice-president and Kirk Moss as director. OSFR is a volunteer driven organization dedicated to the Santa Fe River basin, its tributaries, springs and the aquifer that sustains these waters.
Joanne Tremblay has been a member for one year and has participated for many years at OSFR events. “I have been on the periphery for many years, joining with OSFR to promote responsible use of our aquifer, protesting the nearly 1 mil/gl per day being drawn from our aquifer and Ginnie Springs, getting signatures for the Right to Clean Water amendment, as well as protesting the gas pipeline that was forced through our area.
I have always felt inspired by the work that this organization takes on. In just this past year we have been engaged in many types of positive actions for our community; including challenging the currently enforceable BMAPS, challenging the SRWMD for its uninhibited dispersal of water permits, researching and creating easy links to low-water landscaping plans, informing through Outreach, AquaHort, and tie-dye events. I am consistently becoming more involved, speaking with people, and going to events to share the value of our river, our springs and the Floridan Aquifer.. “I hope to see more community involvement with our Aquifer Friendly Landscaping program.
Kristin Rubin has been working tirelessly for OSFR for several years. After a short sabbatical, she has jumped in with both feet and is back to advocating for our river, springs and most importantly, our aquifer. Kristin successfully led OSFR as president from June 2021 to June 2022 and has been an OSFR director since 2017. Kristin shines in her drive to raise money for local organizations that are doing the science and the legal footwork to accomplish our goals. “We must help and support each other to care and protect this finite source: water – because it belongs to us all”.
Kirk Moss has been a volunteer for Our Santa Fe River for many years, helping out at RiverFest and other OSFR events. This year he decided to take up the challenge of being a director and so we will have the advantage of his thoughtful planning. Kirk will be focusing on the agricultural connections between water use and nutrient loading of our springs.

Kudos and thank you to the officers and directors of the board that continues to press forward with the virtuous ideals and goals of Our Santa Fe River.
