Come on out to Lake Butler at the Union County Extension Office on Monday, October 28 at 2 PM to discuss the implementation of the Basin Management Plan with stakeholders. The Union County – UF/IFAS Extension Office is at 15120 SW 84th St.Lake Butler, FL 32054

A large turnout of citizens wearing BLUE will send a message to FL DEP that we are all watching to see that the FL DEP caries out their responsibility of helping all stakeholders reduce their nutrient loading. Though beef, dairy and hay production creates the greatest load, we are PRO farmers and we support their transition to a more economical and environmentally friendly business model.

Here is a snapshot of current DEP nutrient loading and needed reductions. The targeted reductions are 30% by 2028, 80% by 2033 and 100% by 2038.

The plan will affect water use for all purposes and actions that affect water quality like septic tank use.
