People lined the wall waiting to speak against this boondoggle.

Happily, the Citrus County commissioners in general like the rural environment they now enjoy, and at least some for sure do not want the Northern Turnpike Extension to mess that up.  All the commissioners spoke in support of a NO BUILD option except Jeff  Kinnard, who may not support it but wants to hear more information before the board makes a recommendation one way or the other.  As such, this item will come before the board at a future date when they will vote.

Several dozen people spoke to the board and every single one opposed the road.

Attending this meeting was  Cris Costello and Mike McGrath from Sierra Club, Maxine Connor from the Citrus Co. League of Women Voters, and President Kristin Rubin and your historian from OSFR.  Columbia County Observer Stew Lilker was also present and we look forward to his write-up.  Other groups were also represented including Center for Biological Diversity and Florida Native Plant Society.

Ronald Kitchen and Holly Davis both made it clear that they do not want a turnpike in their back yard.
