This year we are exploring the Santa Fe River with planned excursions throughout the year. We began in the above the river sink, exploring the Santa Fe from Bible Camp Road to the confluence with the Olustee and as the water level permitted, we paddled past Bible Camp towards O’Leno. Next we paddled from the High Springs boat ramp off of 441 up to River Rise. This coming Saturday we will paddle from the High Springs Boat Ramp to Rum Island.

Will you join us? There are several interesting features in this section of the river. There is Alligator Swallet and many fast moving shoals above and around Poe Springs. We can paddle into Poe for a dip and drift past Mermaid Springs and complete our journey into Rum Island. We will pick up debris along the way and hope to see many turtles, anhingas, ibis, some alligators and maybe an otter or two. Get your free ticket NOW at this link. Donations are welcome and appreciated. If you need to rent a boat, you will need to call RUM 138 ASAP at (386) 454-4247.

Our next trip will be from Rum Island to Hollingsworth Boat Ramp. Stay tuned as we paddle our way down to the Suwannee. Paddle maps are available on our website. Paddle on…
