
These huge cypress secure the shores of the lower Santa Fe River near the Suwannee confluence. Without these bastions, the shoreline would quickly erode. The bases are broad but only visible when the waters are low. During high water events, these bases disappear completely underwater, leaving the ordinary trunk as a disguise.
