
Watch our river rise and and fall cleansing, and clearing out any debris. Below I have listed a few opportunities to get involved with our river and it’s people.
1- Tues. August 20 at 6:30 p.m. – The Florida Springs Council livestream on how to create and submit a written comment to the DEP on the draft recovery strategy for the Santa Fe and Ichetucknee Rivers. This event is streamed live to the Florida Springs Council’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
2. Thurs. Aug. 22, 9:30-4:30 . Santa Fe Springs Protection Forum at UF/IFAS Extension in Newberry 22712 W Newberry Rd, Newberry, FL 32669. Pack a lunch. These quartery meetings often present the most current research. The topic this quarter will be water conservation for protecting our springs.
3. Wed. Aug. 28th at 6 pm. Our Santa Fe River Board Meeting at RUM 138, 2070 SW County Rd 138, Fort White, FL 32038, in person or online. Register here to attend online.
4. Sat. August 31st at 9 am- Pick’n Paddle– our monthly paddle get-together exploring different sections of the Santa Fe River. Here is a link to sign-up.
5. Sun. Sept. 8 at 10 am: Water Protectors meet at the Ichetucknee State Park north entrance. Organized by our local Sierra Club. Sign-up HERE for this is a meet, greet, and splash event.
Finally, two ways you can boost your water defender status by attending to these upcoming concerns.
