Sometimes its a trickle, others times its a cascading waterfall. Myrtles Fissure provides an ever-changing view of our river. From the river, one can spot the shallow run that flows across the sharp limestone. The spring lies longways along an embankment. It looks like a long and narrow crack . This resurgent spring is the result of water being siphoned from the river and pushing its way back up again through a series of underground passageways. Alachua Conservation Trust purchased the property in 2021 as part of the Little Awesome Preserve. This is one of the features we will look for on our upcoming Pick’n Paddle on Sunday September 29th. Be sure to get your tickets as space is limited.
