SouthWings has supported OSFR several times in the past, providing multiple flights over the Sable Trail pipeline project and Mosaic mines, the failed phosphate mine in Bradford and Union counties, and the on-going mine near Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

Dear friends,
Our times are full of headwinds for those of us who care about the future of the climate and of the livability of our planet. But it is also not without hope. We here at SouthWings remain steadfast in our commitment to be among the helpers, to be among those who remain hopeful, and to keep our eye on the vision of a healthy and resilient life for our children and the planet they inhabit.
As this new year gets well underway, we’d like to take a look back and share all of the flight work that took place in 2024. Our volunteer pilots went above and beyond in so many ways and helped our partners accomplish great things last year.

Organizational Highlights from 2024 ☀️
In April, SouthWings Eastern Program Director, Laura Early, welcomed her beautiful twin baby girls!
Of course, in October, we saw the devastation of our beloved Asheville from Hurricane Helene, and many of our staff and board members faced storm damage and lack of electricity and running water for weeks on end. The silver lining of it all was seeing our community come together like never before.
This past year brought the end of the terms of two of our very long standing and trusted board members, Brett Smith and Elisabeth Donnovin, and we were extremely pleased to welcome a new member to our Board of Directors, Adam Babich!
One thing is certain – 2024 is a year SouthWings won’t soon forget.
We couldn’t do any of this without the support and collaboration from each and every one of you, so a heartfelt thank you to you all!
