It is with great sadness and deepest regret that the Our Santa Fe River, Inc. OSFR Board of Directors announces the death of Board member, Rhonda Long. Rhonda was born on March 6th, 1969 and passed away on June 19th, 2022. She died in an automobile accident in South Central Florida.Rhonda was a multifaceted individual. Throughout her lifetime, she was involved with many non–profit organizations. She treasured the Santa Fe River and spent the last years of her life working as an OSFR volunteer and board member. Her hope was to combine and maximize the efforts of like–minded individuals and groups to help bring her beloved river back to its natural splendor.
An inevitable natural match for board membership with OSFR, Rhonda brought to the board multiple skills including grant writing, creative marketing promotions, fund raising, providing information to the public through tabling, graphics for posters, brochures and printed media, and on top of that was a great organizer. She organized and participated in RiverFest events, arranged many river and ground cleanups, attended government meetings and rallies. Rhonda had a double pronged attitude; “We’ll find a way to do it!” and “When do you want it?”
We are so fortunate to have known her and have her creative energy helping us protect the Santa Fe River.
Rhonda Long, OSFR board member since 2015.
