Our Annual Review

Last week we celebrated our organizational year, voting in new directors, and officers. It is no secret that our organization has ebbed over the past few years, and though our membership has waned, our organization is active. Take a look at our Annual Review video to see.

This ebb-time is a chance for us to plan and rebuild with new members and focus. If you believe that Our Santa Fe River organization adds value to our river and springs, and you want to help, then please become a member and/or volunteer with our organization.

At our next meeting on July 24th at RUM 138, we will be forming committees. We need at least one volunteer and one board member on each committee. It is possible to volunteer in more than one committee. The more volunteers we have, the more we can accomplish. Examples of committees include: Media, Science, Environment, and Outreach. The Media committee is in charge of sharing information about our river and springs. The Science Committee is in charge of getting the most accurate information and working with organizations like the Florida Springs Institute. The Environmental Committee will focus on water tests, clean-up of trash and invasive plants. Our Outreach Committee will focus on community presentations and events.

Young Adults and Teens, we welcome you to volunteer as well. We can help you obtain the 75-100 hours needed for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. You can write articles, create a video for our daily blog or help in a clean-up or other event. Our future is limited only by our imaginations. Our river and springs deserve all our efforts to protect and preserve this most wonderful resource.
