The Santa Fe Springs Protection Forum is this Wednesday, July 16th in High Springs from 9:30 – 3:00. Pack a lunch. These meetings are fun, informative and open to the public. See the agenda below.

Extreme precipitation events can occur anywhere, anytime. Know your neighborhood and the low-lying drainage swails. Have a weather radio or app ready and make an evacuation plan if you live around the 100 year flood plane. Here is a link to the FEMA flood map which will give you an idea of what you can expect in your area.

Extreme rainfall events are also a threat on the Upper Santa Fe River in Bradford County. The titanium mine around Starke, Fl. suffers from run-off and retention pond spills. Residents along the headwater lakes like Lakes Santa Fe and Sampson and the many creeks that empty into the Santa Fe remember the catastrophic flooding that followed Hurricane Irma in 2017.
