The following was sent by the Florida Right to Clean and Healthy Water group. They represent our only feasible chance for saving our springs and rivers in the near future because most of our state leaders care more for money than our water.
Thanks go to Anna Eskamani and Jacqui Thurlow-Lippisch for being strong leaders in the fight for the environment. Also, thanks to Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson for this link.

Only Honest, Courageous Love
can move this mountain.

Congratulations to Captain Tony Nesbitt of Great Daye Fishing Charters for submitting this winning entry for the Florida Fins & Frames Fish Pic Tournament! In answering the question, “Why is the Florida Right to Clean Water initiative so important to you,” he answers:
“Because of father and daughter moments like this!”
Simple. Sweet. Compelling. If you check out the other tournament entries, you’ll find similar heartfelt reasons why this initiative deserves all-time attention and immediate action. Most all of them look to the interests and experiences of future generations.
It’s not only important to reflect on and find such truths within ourselves. It’s important to take an honest assessment of the system that controls the health and fate of whom and what we love.
There aren’t too many leaders in Florida able to provide that honest assessment on where we should be placing our hopes and expectations.

But when they do, we should listen.
Listen to the words of industry and community leaders throughout Florida all giving us the harsh truth that status quo is not working.

Keep in mind, truth and honest assessments are meaningless if they’re not effectively acted upon. It takes courage to speak truth to power, but even more to realize that actions speak louder than words.

With statewide, tangible actions, we can collect and process the number of signatures we need in the time we have left — but only if we’re honest, only if we’re courageous, and only if we truly love what we’re fighting for.

What we’re doing is historic. It’s an underdog, David/Goliath story about the will and needs of Floridians vs. a pollution interest dominated and well-resourced political machine.
But we have the ABILITY to correct course and shift Florida’s future toward clean and healthy waters, if we want to.
We have to be honest. We have to be brave.
And we have to stay focused on WHY we’re giving it all we can to make this dream into a reality. Let’s push!
